He is great. They had this segment on him where they like showed what he does when he isn't swimming. He pretty much just does what I do, eat, sleep, and a little video games/friends every now and then. He even eats all sorts of food you wouldn't imagine someone like him would eat. He's great, because on top of all that, he is an unbelievable swimmer.

I do wish Ian Thorpe had been well and ready to compete. It would have made for very interesting viewing.

He's had a lot of health problems that really interrupted his preparation for the Commonwealth Games and just never got back.

He's actually since announced his retirement from professional swimming. He doesn't rule out a return though, but says it is unlikely.
