Right, Ive made a few attempts at writing short stories but Ive never been able to finish them cos I run out of events or else there's no point to the story. So heres one I'm thinking about although I cant really figure out a sequence of events or how to write it, but basically its a British soldier trapped in a house in Afghanistan with taliban soldiers attacking it, and the story goes from in between the past (what prompted him to join the army, his background, etc) and whats happening in the house and the firefight going on around him. Now basically the past revolves around a girl, a girl he loved who just wouldn't take him because she was 5 years older than him. I don't know what else to write about her...other than shes a college student. I don't know if I should give her someone that she loves but wont have her. I don't know what background to give the protagonist - poor or middle class. I'm thinking single parent in council flat. I don't know what even to give him that would make him join the army, how she would tell him that she doesn't love him back and how he would give up everything else to join the army. Any other details would be much appreciated, like friends and general events, etc. Please help.

Maybe make the girl someone becoming famous or someone like, quite special where she lives. poor, but not too poor for the background, make it like a struggle. She could tell him harshly that she doesn't want to be with him? That could make him pack his bags. Message me if you want any other idea's maybe?

You are basically asking us to come up with the main points of your story for you. Improvise, maybe some ideas will dawn on you as you write.
