Have you read any biographies on the Prophet or on the early Muslims?  Have you read from the primary sources or any Hadith collections?  Have you taken classes on Islam - if so, on what exactly? I read pieces of the Qu'ran out of personal curiosity in high school, but the only formal training I've had in that area was an extremely biased literature teacher who assigned sections of it almost certainly in order to disprove it. I have read the Koran almost in its entirety.
