D: And who do I put down? I would imagine that is fine aslong as they are 2 different people. As my references for my job now I used my old boss and an actual neighbour. Professional references are people that you have worked with, that can vouch for how good of a worker you are. Personal references are people that you know, that can vouch for how good of a person you are. If you do not have enough (good) professional references, it should be fine to use personal references. A good friend's parent or a teacher may be a good reference.
