-- Posted by AthenaRuth at 10:31 am on Aug. 19, 2008 Psychotic breakdown. I recently had a manic, psychotic breakdown. I kept repeating myself when I talked one or two times. The breakdown was caused by a slasher kid at work who dropped a heavy meat cleaver on my head and caused me to have to get five stitches. I freaked out because my face was ugly looking with stitches and franken stiff. Then I went to visit cousins in Europe. My brother was really embarrassed of me because he said I kept babbling incoherently and said, "Half of what you say is a load of crap." Then he moved away from me and my cousin said, "She's kind of strange isn't she?" Now I'm back in the states and I know I made a horrible impression but anything I said to explain my behavior would just sound like an excuse since the stitches came out a week after I got to Europe but I was there three weeks, experiencing a manic episode. Now all my cousins think I'm strange and they won't invite me back. My aunt said I was "special" but I had just been traumatised. Although I am yet to be diagnosed bipolar (trust me, this is ongoing) this is something that happens to me alot. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact I kind of like it when I get like that. It is important to keep explaining your behaviour. Have you been diagnosed Bipolar? If so, explain to ppl why you behave the way you do and ask that they understand. It is also good because then ppl can be aware you become dangerous (ie. delusional etc.)
