After i got it, i had my period constantly, and then it kinda slowed down and i only had spot bleeding. and then it got bad again to where it almost never stopped. but for the past few months, i haven't had my period at all. It works. Practically stops your period and the probabitlity of you getting pregnant are little to none. Unless you just completely stop taking it AND give it time to flush out of your system. -- Posted by Pixie90 at 11:52 am on Aug. 20, 2008 the chip and the shot can cause bleeding and they are a PAIN in the ass, its because they have so many hormones in them. iv been on Nuvaring for 6 months and its fantastic!!!!! only spot bleeding for the first month. it has the least side effects and u dont have 2 remember to take a pill at the same time every day! Your only supposed to get it 3 times a year and usually its planned out when you will get it. The weight gain was about 5 lbs every 6 months. thats how it was for me. Yea, I am thick, but I like it. Atleast I aint a stick. I am 5'3  and around 140 lbs. I switched to Implanon because the shot was eating at my bones. I lost 15.4% bone density in 6 months. That is VERY VERY bad. There's always the patch and the new vaginal ring. I'm about to start using the patch next month. And the pill works if you take it consistently.
