unless you have her as a reference then no.

ummm... I don't think so.. your NEW employer could contact her and ask. But I don't know if she can call them and start saying bad things about you.

i think so, yeah. you're supposed to give a two week notice, anyways.

-- Posted by mrlupo8 at 1:01 pm on Aug. 20, 2008

Yes, actually, she is. And she probably should. You know how much of an ass you are to do that? That fucks everyone over! Two weeks! Two week notice! I hope you get fired.

if she was harsh nd said it as a random person goin to your manager yeah why not but she couldnt say it from a managers perspective

She can do whatever she wants of course if it is not true you can sue the shit out of her. But if she calls to tell them that you walked off the job to start over at the new place she is just going to come off as a stupid fat cow.

there is no such thing as a necessary 2 weeks notice nice people give 2 weeks notice and if u want them to give nice compliments to your next job, give 2 weeks notice if its a shit job and you dont care, just stop showing up to make it even worse. lol

No
it wouldnt hold annything if she wasnt down as a reference so why worry?

I have to say, she should. Two weeks notice is there for a reason. Just as it takes you time to find a new job, she needs a chance to find someone to replace you, and attending scheduled hours is an agreement between the business and its employees. You were completely wrong to skip out on them.

no shes not. Even if your new employer decides to call her, she is not allowed to say anything negative. She can either say nice things, or simply say that you used to work there. But just because she's technically not allowed doesnt me that she wont.

No, they can say bad things. Now, it would be libel if she WROTE said things, and made them availably publicly, but shes allowed to say whatever she wants in a private communication. Face it, you did do a stupid thing, and they have every right to warn your next employer. Since you already have the job, I highly doubt they will fire you (unless you put or checked that you were a hard worker, in which case they can fire you for lying on your app) but you will probably get watched over a little bit more, and Im sure if you pull the same thing on them, they will also be sure to let any and all future employers know.

at least in California legally all she can do is, IF called, say how long you worked for her and if she would hire you again, that is it. In Cali if she says anything else she is liable.

If you leave a job, you should try to part on good terms with your boss so you can have them as a referee.
