Now, it would be libel if she WROTE said things, and made them availably publicly, but shes allowed to say whatever she wants in a private communication. Face it, you did do a stupid thing, and they have every right to warn your next employer. Since you already have the job, I highly doubt they will fire you (unless you put or checked that you were a hard worker, in which case they can fire you for lying on your app) but you will probably get watched over a little bit more, and Im sure if you pull the same thing on them, they will also be sure to let any and all future employers know. -- Posted by medjai at 6:26 pm on Aug. 20, 2008 at least in California legally all she can do is, IF called, say how long you worked for her and if she would hire you again, that is it.
