If everyone in the marriage is happy and no one is being harassed or hurt, is it okay?

-- Posted by abbeyqtpi at 1:38 am on Aug. 21, 2008

I don't think so.

But we're all people, and nobody can control anyone else. ..Except rape.

-- Posted by SpM at 1:38 am on Aug. 21, 2008

I have no moral issue with it.

its cool but keep your kids away from it... or else the Child protective services will...

I say polygamy is alright as long as everyone knows about it and is happy with it. There are some married couples that have an open relationship. I know that's not quite the same, but if everyone involved is happy with it, why should it matter what anyone else thinks?

I don't think that someone should be able to get married while being married to someone else; it's not fair to the other spouses, who might not even know.

However, I would support a polygamy in which all members are married to each either.

What I mean is, I wouldn't support A+B and A+C and A+D, but I  would support A+B+C+D.

I think if you're a polygamist guy, you're a boss.

What if B, C and D are of different a different gender than A? And B, C and D are only attracted to those of the opposite sex, but everyone is still happy? And B, C and D aren't interested in sexual relations with each other...

I personally think marriage is for two people only. But it doesn't really matter in my life, anyways.

then obviously not everyone wants to be married to each other, and if everyone isn't committed to everyone else then it's not a valid marriage and shouldn't exist

Well... they're all committed to each other and they all love each other but B, C and D just aren't interested in having a sexual relationship together... the sexual relationship that comes with marriage.

If it's all actually consensual (read: no coersion, no brainwashing, no threats), everyone is of age and perfectly content with it, and it's not breaking any laws, I don't see the problem with it.

Yes. Nothing is "not OK" that doesn't cause harm to someone. I don't understand why that's so hard for so many to grasp.
