so i just dropped my blackberry into the bathtub. i quickly took off the faceplates and the back and the battery/sin card/memory card. then after a couple minutes i put the battery back in to see if it works. it turns on, but everything i type comes up as 2 stars (i can only type in the password slot, because it's locked, and i can't see what i'm typing) and the track ball shows as a letter instead of pressing enter. what should i do? keep the battery out?

Leave it to dry for a while. A day or so. Preferably around a fan so it dries. It's probably wet and that's why it inst working. Give it time and then see what happens; if it doesn't work you are screwed.

Put it in a bowl of dry rice. It will suck the water out of it.

Well that sucks

put it somewhere very warm and dry in a bowl of rice trust me the rice absorbs water and warm and dry evaporates it

You've just fried it. You should've let it dry off before testing it out. Congratulations. You either need a new one, perform some modification to it, or let it dry a little more.

sounds like its broken. I dont know whether you can claim for a new one now.

Well, first of all, I hope for the love of everything, you haven't tried to dry it by putting it in the drier. That is a foolish thing, and doesn't help. You need to find a way to dry it out, not just push the water around into more areas. You look around, freak out on not finding anything to do, but the answer is most likely in your cupboard. Rice. First, turn it off and put it in cold water, then into the rice bowl. Cold water will wash off all impurities and acidic things so it doesn't mess up the circuits. Take a bowl big enough to hold your electronic and then more. Add dry rice. Add the electronic, put it in the center, surrounded by rice. Rice is a very dry thing, and will suck up all of the moisture/wetness in your electronic, leaving it dry. So, wait a couple of hours, I would say, 5. Then, add batteries/charge it because it might have lost its power, and try it! It should work very well, I have personally used it before a few times, and is a very simple trick to save your electronics.

that sucks, ive dropped my cell in the toilet twice, one time it still actually worked

soak it in rubbing alcohol... leave the battery out of the cell phone for atleast. 5 days and then put it back together other than that method you're really out of luck cuz the problem can be permanent.

That's gross. There's no way I'd be able to use it again. Specially calling someone. All pressed up against your face.
