---- Several Bomb alerts in Craigavon (http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yaiayni-support-a.html)

So apparently a taxi was hijacked by 3 masked men last night and now there are several bomb alerts in Craigavon, including an area in which I live in.

This would suggest a car bomb, and not likely a hoax as the Craigavon area is well known for paramilitary activity, not long ago a large amount of explosives was found not far from here. However if this is the work of factions of the IRA then they certainly haven't picked suitable targets, as this estate I live in and adjoining estates would be considered sympathetic to their cause.

What annoys me most is it would appear the police have been exceedingly slow is checking out these threats, including the one in this area. We have seen little to no police activity.

I shall be eagerly awaiting the news to find out more. Apparently "enquires into the threats are still continuing"

Nice work.

Yes, but it would have to be an incident of significance. Something to anger the opposite community enough to seek retaliation.

Which hopefully won't happen.

Thank you for informing me of that, I apparently missed that in the news. I'm always very interested in the situation over there. The tenacity of the Irish volition is something to be admired. I'm two-sided on the idea of the IRA re-activating, as far as a foreigner is entitled to being concerned, I despise the thought of the streets of the cities becoming a warzone again, but I am incapable of stifling my discontent with Ireland being split. I take the former to heart, the latter only in principle.

Well it would appear at least for now anyway that the bomb alerts were hoaxes to attract police activity in the area in which people could orchestrate attacks on police.
Some vehicles have been burnt out, police vehicles have been damaged and petrol bombs, various missiles and a blast bomb were thrown at police.

No ones been injured and one person has been arrested on suspicion of hijacking vehicles.

Apparently an hour ago shots where fired at police, quite close to my house too.
I wonder if this is going to continue or even escalate over the next few days.
