Errrrgh

My computer refuses to work and I'm currently using my shitty parent's one.

Whenever my computer boots and reaches the Windows XP loading screen, soon after i receive the blue screen of death

"Windows logon process system terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000034

C000021a fatal system error"

Or something along those lines.

I researched into troubleshooting C000021a related incidents and got told about some Dr Watson programme thing but i can't even load up a command prompt to use it.

Any other alternatives i could possibly use to solve this? Or am i going to have to go through the dreaded formatting process?

PLUS! Any chance i can save some of my files from the hard drive?

Fucking hate PCs sometimes

Damn.. That happend to me once, I had to do a hardrive sweep and clean. I lost all my data and had to start from scratch.

Run SpinRite on it. That program is absolutely awesome. Saved my skin a few times back when I had Windows. It's not free though, so I could always lend you my copy.

Other than that did you try to boot up in safe mode?

Without bothering to look into your problem too much i recommend this.

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
OR
http://www.ubcd4win.com/

It has everything ive ever needed to sort out PC's! I believe theres a command prompt on there somewhere.. Check it out!

Yeah, done all the F8 safe mode stuff and the other options available such as the VG thingy (can't remember what its called), last good system configuration, safe mode with command prompt.

They all do the same thing, restarts.

Good idea. Take it all apart and put it back together again!

If thats what you meant no... Bad idea :P Wont do a thing...

If you bent rebuild it by reinstalling then that would mean loosing everything on the HD. Not always the best solution

I didnt mean take it all apart and put it back together again. Lmao.
I ment wipe everything from your computer and start again.
It might not always be the best solution, but can sometimes be the only one.

You could always try going back to where you got your PC from...and ask them about it.

Reinstall windows without formatting. It's possible, I dunno why no one's suggested it yet.
