okay, so i've just got a letter from my GP, requesting that i attend surgery for more tests, as i have damage to my kidneys following overdoses, and also through limiting my food intake..
They are saying that i need to gain 8 lbs this week, and continue to gain 8lbs weekly for the next 6 weeks if there is to be any chance of me avoiding hospitalisation again as im 'emaciated', though i am clearly not.
I'm completely torn.
I dont want to be stuck on a ward again,
but i dont want to gain the weight.
I just dont know what to do. this is driving me crazy.
can anyone please offer some advice? has anyone else been in a similar situation? what did you do? how did you cope with it?
And, please don't tell me to to just stop being stupid and just gain the weight... for if you know anything about ED's, you will know that this is simply not an option for most.
Please. I need some reassuring words.

Hmm, well, I'm guessing the doctors are correct when they saw you need to gain weight. I didn't believe them either, I thought I was fine, but they know what they are talking about, so I would try to gain some. I'm not saying you need to tank up, but putting on some weight is best. Also, there is nothing saying you can't be a bit heavier, and still in shape. That's what I did. I gained weight, but I stayed toned, and it really wasn't all that bad.

I think the key is to get some supportive people to help you along. Your mother doesn't seem to be that encouraging towards gaining weight, so do you have a best friend, or at least someone you trust that can help you? Maybe they can "check in" and make sure you are eating, or you could go to lunch with them? Even if they are just there for you to talk to when you feel like you can't do this, or you want to quit. Just knowing you have someone behind you can be really, really motivating and helpful.

Good luck, hun. =)

annastasia - thankyou, i know this is not something i have a  choice with, really, it is just proving difficult to accept at the moment, but thankyou for your kind words. and the friend part - im not doing so good on that front, as they all seem to have disowned me, and have a somewhat rocky relationship with my boyfriend of just over a year, but i shall do okay. i have never been much of a social person anyway, but i do have a neighbour who is very kindly and i get along quite well with her. :)

veronica - do not worry about a lack of advice, i think more than anything i just needed to get this out of my system. it damages when you hold things in. And thankyou for your wishes of good luck :)
