I've been wanting to buy some speakers for my room. I don't know much when it comes to speaker systems but I want alot of bass and pretty loud, it has to have a ipod dock. I listen to alot of heavy metal and stuff.. I was looking at this one, Im pretty sure I want a subwoofer and only the first one has one?

Go for the home theater set-up, even if you are only going to listen to music.

Get yourself a receiver and two speakers, and an auxiliary cord for your ipod.

If you go this route you are able to continue to upgrade and add subwoofers, more speakers, more media devices such as dvd, multi-disc cd changers, and pretty much whatever else you can think of.

I highly recommend the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX speaker system. Very high quality equipment, and from what I hear the newer revisions use normal speaker wire, allowing you to use your own speakers should you desire to upgrade them in the future, or need longer cables for the included speakers.

If you can find them for under $200 anywhere, snag them. 500 watts, THX-certified, Dolby Digital Pro Logic II... And you can hook multiple sources up to the reciever; you can have three seperate Stereo inputs, a Digital Coaxial, and Fiber Optic cable. I think for a max of 5 seperate sources.

There's also a couple of jacks on the side of the reciever for a microphone (or ipod) and headphones.

Here is a link for reference.
