I don't think I ever will be. I hate kids. My worst nightmare is getting pregnant. How the hell do I have an amazing connection with Mr. Dad. I can guarantee you that he would be an amazing father. And apperantly he wants me to someday be the other part to that father figure. Obviously it's still a long way of, but please don't tell me that things like that will naturally turn around. I have my reason for not wanting to have kids, no I do't want to tell it. Could some people just tell me some wonderful stories about children, babies, and raising/birthing etceteraing them? Just to make me more open to the idea.

Don't change yourself for him. Just have fun now if it's a long way off, but perhaps just tell him you don't want kids.

He knows. He understands. I just...also want to understand his view.

I've always been pretty anti-children myself, for a long time, but time and maturity really does help you open up to the idea. I mean, maybe not a ton, I doubt I'll ever win mom-of-the-year, but at least now instead of saying "I never want kids" I say "I want kids...someday..."

Hmmm, agree with the above posts. :-) I wasn't sure about kids before I had my son. Kids terrified me really, I was always afraid of setting them off. Becoming a mother has really boosted my confidence. I didn't think I was capable of much before. But now I know that I'm immensely capable of raising, teaching and keeping another human being alive for years and years. You carry that confidence over to other parts of your life as well. It wasn't until after I had my son that I started to feel confidence academically or career-wise. Every day is an adventure, that you never know what's going to happen. I never saw the fun in babies or toddlers before. But once I got there, I realized that they're pretty funny goofy creatures. And it's pretty neat being the one to raise them and teach them and watch them grow and explore and apply the knowledge they've learned from you. It's awesome being able to do all the things that you wished that your parents had done for you, trying to better yourself and your child's life. And it's fun to get up to adventures that you probably wouldn't do on your own, like going to kid's themeparks or other "family oriented" things in your town. As far as pregnancy and birth goes. I wasn't a huge fan of being pregnant, my body doesn't handle it very well, but it's a "means to an end." I found birth to be an amazing experience. To set your mind to something, research it, make decisions and stick it out on one of the most amazing days of your life is thrilling. I proved a lot to myself on the day of my son's birth and I think I surprised some other people too. :-) Hope this helped a little.
