What are your main deciding factors when trying to determine the difference between a "No Contribution" reply and a "Spam" reply?

For instance, what would you consider this:

I might be confused, but aren't they basically the same thing?

Support me, Support Leaders.  What is your idea of each, or do you think they are the same?

i generally consider spam large-scale and completely unrelated

i consider no contrib individual and usually somewhat related

hmm that can be both..

but it's more like spam..

and i suppose it's hard to drive and hide posts in DTRM..

I'd call that nocontrib.

I consider spam to be advertisements and such.

Spam is shite that's posted for the purpose of pissing people off. No contrib is a post that just doesn't have any contribution to the topic.

I personally wouldn't hide that post, but I suppose it could be classed as no contribution.

Ahh, but there's an "Advertising" reason for hiding posts.

If I can't really decide on one of the reasons, then I'll leave it alone.  Chances are another SL is right behind me and she or he can make a better decision.

Btw, that would be non contributing in my opinion.

If you were to hide that post, I suppose it would be no-contribution. I think no-contribution is along the lines of posts that don't help the author in support topics, or talk about something else, or just plain don't contribute to the topic. In DTRM, it's a really fine line about what you hide and what stays, though. Not much needs to go.

Spam to me is like...50 smilies, or random letters.
