http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-politics/20080901/CVN.Palin.Daughter/

So what, it's okay now? This won't kill her campaign? It's a PRIVATE matter?

Why is it that the completely false rumour about Obama being a Muslim turned so many people off, but when an extremely conservative, pro-life and extremely pro abstinence vp has news like this, nothing happens?

I hope the media have a field day with this, because the way they treat "political scandals" is not fair.

And personally, I still believe there is something fishy about Palin's fifth child, the one with down syndrome.

so much for being a "conservative"

this killed it

-- Posted by FiercexMelon at 10:25 am on Sep. 1, 2008

I agree. If people say that private matters shouldn't interfere with politics, they should treat ALL candidates the same.

Of course, that's not the way the world works.

WAY 2 GO CATHOLIC CONSERVATIVES!

i told you so

LOL.  I wonder if the mystery of her youngest son will ever be solved.

-- Posted by marshmellowman at 10:27 am on Sep. 1, 2008

Nothing happens? The introduction statement in the telegraph article is that it may "anger the extreme Christian right within her party." It's hardly 3 day old news, you have to give time for the media and the public to react.

-- Posted by hawkeye at 10:28 am on Sep. 1, 2008

See, the thing is, it's the kids own stupidity in doing something like that. You can't necessarily blame the parents for what is ultimately the child's own fault. And in the article, it said her daughter was gonna marry the father. Yeah?

Parenting can only go so far, kids are gonna do stupid things.

As for the fifth child, does it REALLY matter?

Her daughter is an example that her beliefs on sexual education and teen pregnancy, don't work.

However, I do think Democrats should be the bigger people and not play dirty like the republicans are famous for doing. Just leave her personal problems at home. I'm sure her daughter doesn't want to be blamed for the republican party losing.

-- Posted by josphat10101 at 10:33 am on Sep. 1, 2008

Palin can not be blamed for what her own daughter does. If you had a daughter and she got pregnant at 17, you would love her still, right?

Well, thats just what they are doing.

As for her son, why all the messed up people making accusations about the child? There is some proof somewhere that the child is hers. Instead of making things harder for her, how about letting things be?

It's not that people are attacking the kid. It's just the hypocrisy of Sarah Palin's beliefs. No abortion, even if raped, and she will not, under any circumstances support sex education unless it is abstinence.

But yet, her own teenager daughter gets pregnant? Perhaps if she'd educated her own daughter, it wouldn't have happened.

I'm just sick and tired of the unequal playing grounds. Everything the Democrats have done "privately", has been torn to the ground and tarnished her reputation.

But when Sarah Palin has a private family issue, everyone wants to give her privacy, and not get it involved in the election?

What the hell? Either private issues will be fair game for all, or they will be fair game for NONE.

I don't want her to potentially run our country. She obviously a selfish, insecure liar. That means either McCain has the same principles or he didn't research her very well. We don't need that sort of person as president. Is he going to nuke Russia because he's insecure or because he doesn't bother to research the situation more?

Exactly. And also, Palin is running for VP here-- not her daughter. So far, there's nothing about that article that contradicts anything from Palin.

On a side note, I can definitely understand where this might cause some problems to those evangelical voters. I wonder if McCain knew about this...? Eek.

First of all, I'm sure the media will grab this ONCE THE HURRICANE IS OVER. Geez.

Second, Palin's daughter may have been brought up and taught by her mother the very values you're talking about, but that wouldn't stop the kid from doing whatever she wants. Tell me that you believe and stand by everything your parents tell/told you and I'll call you a liar.

Third, private issues shouldn't be fair-game, but they are and so I'm sure this will make its way out. If not, does it REALLY matter? In all fairness, it has nothing to do with her political beliefs and it doesn't knock her own standings and personal values. The kid was the stupid one, not Palin.

If you go to the link I provided, there should be a link from that page.

If you are going to try and tell me I have no evidence for this, you can find it anywhere. She's very vocal about it.

Also, try  theissues.org, I believe. Or, her website.

I haven't been able to find anything that fits your statement of "under any circumstances". This seems to be the statement everyone has jumped on: "The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support." No one seems to want to put "explicit" to the 'meaning test'. Not even asking, apparently, if it does mean 'abstinence only' education.

This is just sweet justice. I feel sorry for the daughter, but maybe one more neocon will think before opening her mouth about "family values."

That's not hypocrisy, that's ignorance. If her daughter had gotten an abortion, then that could certainly be considered hypocrisy.

I believe her daughter is the living proof that abstinence -only education does not really work...

How often have these "private" issues included the children? This issue is not about anything Sarah Palin has done, it's about her 17 year old daughter.

Private matters such as this do not matter in politics. First of all Palin herself did not do anything wrong. Her teenage daughter did something wrong, she made a mistake. What's the big deal?

Whether Obama is Muslim or not is very important because obviously your religion affects your beliefs.
