Ok so yeah the only ram in my old desktop computer is 128 MB. I'm wanting to put new (better) ram in it but I don't know that much about what computers take what.

The tag on the chip says:
Nanya 0243
NT 128D645H4B0G-75B
128 MB DDR-266 MHz-CL2.5
PC2100-25330

I'm not sure how important all that is but I've been doing some research and found there's DDR2 and DDR3s now. My desktop is an older(ish-idk) Dell computer and I was wondering does it matter what type it needs as long as it's for desktops?

I'm a beginner at customizing and everything like hardware wise.

You need it to be DDR-266.

You can NOT use a different frequency of RAM.

It will have to be DDR-226 (your motherboard probably won't be able to accept or use DDR2 or DDR3 RAM), CL2.5, and be PC2100 or PC2300. When looking for RAM make sure they are all of the same standard and specification.

u will probably pay the same for a stick of that ram and a good aftermarket computer

uh, he can get 2gb of pc 2100 for $60... if his motherboard can take it
