Why would God allow the holocaust to happen? While children was being burned, tortured, and hanged and six million Jews were starved, worked to death, and gassed for no apparent reason and he just didn't do anything.

I'm not questioning God. In my English class, we was talking about it and I'm curious to see what you all think God allowed the holocaust for.

God only works 7 days an eternity. The rest is holiday.

God takes vacations too.

Nicely put.

And the Holocaust wasn't only Jews.

gods a fuck and doesnt care about people, i hate him, i am my own god

-- Posted by zombieman5 at 6:02 pm on Sep. 1, 2008

it's not like god could have done anything. he doesn't do anything at all. he's just there to explain things happening in the past. cause he's not allowed to actually prove he exists by making a huge miracle like the holocaust not happening. he has the power. but he doesn't use it.

-- Posted by matthewlovelady at 6:06 pm on Sep. 1, 2008

I think I read somewhere in the Bible where God 'left' us, where he stopped doing major miracles like with Moses and all the stories.

My personal interpretation is that He leaves it up to humans to make their own decisions, and He will judge accordingly.

I think its all about free will.

Besides, it's not like he totally abandoned everyone. All the jews that stayed in hiding and werent killed. Not to mention Schindler's Jews.

Why would God allow the holocaust to happen?
The same reason he let Godzilla attack Japan.

There's no point in stopping a myth, nobody really dies from it.

The Holocaust was not a myth. I hope you are not saying it was.

There're plenty of other horrible questions to ask while you're at it. Why does God condemn people to life and then condemn them to Hell for having been born in the wrong place, time or family?

Why did God allow the near extermination of the American aboriginals? Why does God continue to allow humans to fuck each other into total crippling poverty? Why does God let Israel demolish Arab family homes? Why does God let China demolish Chinese family homes?

Why is the Holocaust so special to you, and why do you think God gives a damn?

-- Posted by Nerdandproud at 6:42 pm on Sep. 1, 2008

Why aren't you questioning god, I think a mass genocide might be something that cant be excused with a "god works in mysterious ways" dont you reckon?

-- Posted by osmoticdespair at 8:50 pm on Sep. 1, 2008

Because God delegated lots of power to earthly beings and we are not all sunshine and fairies. Well actually, we are rather like the messed up creatures that were real fairies, only bigger, and we have better technology.

-- Posted by justin1990rm at 9:27 am on Sep. 2, 2008

god gave people free will, but maybe that wasnt a good idea

-- Posted by Nerdandproud at 10:24 am on Sep. 2, 2008

Free will is debatable

-- Posted by Prince o palities at 10:25 am on Sep. 2, 2008

Why does God let people do anything bad?  He granted us freewill and earthly dominion.  God didn't cause the Holocaust, Hitler did.  These sort of "why does God allow..." questions work significantly better with natural disasters.

-- Posted by Demon Army at 1:18 pm on Sep. 2, 2008

If there is predestination, then the Holocaust was God's design and thus he is malevolent (unless it was all part of some long-term plan that we are as yet unable to comprehend). Furthermore, in that case heaven and hell are useless because reward and punishment mean nothing if what you do is fated.

But if we have free will, then the Holocaust his human doing and God had nothing to do with it (besides giving us the free will in the first place). The Muslim "taklif" doctrine is a good explanation: that humans have free will, and life is a test for all beings with that free will.

He DID do things!
He helped millions to be saved by helping the alies win the war!
It was some serious crap but the evl plan failed!
The jews [and others] were not wiped from the face of the earth.

-- Posted by GmanXXVI at 8:24 pm on Sep. 4, 2008

let me get this straight, you think that if someone was succesful in assasinating hitler that it would be the work of god, thereby proving his existance. but the fact that he didn't intervine is...proof of his great godly lazyness?
