And that will be the death of us. I was thinking about this after I read that on the new season of America's Next Top Model, there will be a transgendered boy (who is now a girl) in the competition. I have nothing against these people, but it made me think, where does America draw the line? When is something unacceptable? We even make excuses for those who go postal and go on killing sprees. "It's because they were lonely" or "It's because he was an outcast". Where is the line drawn in America? Can anyone name something in America that is truly considered unacceptable, and doesn't have 50 "Pro-whatever" people arguing for it?

Being transgendered doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.
-- Posted by flanders5t6 at 12:55 pm on Sep. 3, 2008
and notice... only in America do people go on killing sprees...

You're comparing being transexual to being a mass murderer? For as much as I'm creeped out by trannies, that's just stupid.
-- Posted by the raven at 12:56 pm on Sep. 3, 2008
You have no problem with them, yet you end up making this topic, and asking yourself those questions? Seems quite hypocritical.
-- Posted by MushroomSatsujin at 12:56 pm on Sep. 3, 2008
I dont see the problem with that

Exactly. Having a sense of compassion for other human beings doesn't either. duh.

Re-read that. I wasn't comparing them directly.

That wasn't the point of this post. The point was, America keeps drawing the line further and further. Everything is "acceptable". Why is that?

I think that it is good that people in america are so open minded and not critical to people like that. Even to people in other situations. There are some wuidlines to what is acceptable though, gay marriage is still a controversey.
-- Posted by SpM at 12:58 pm on Sep. 3, 2008
There is a very big difference between saying "there was a reason this person snapped and went on a killing spree" and saying "hey, killings sprees, no big deal right?".

Because as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else, whos to tell others how to live?

Because we need to find a line which lets people be themselves - providing it doesn't hurt other people, and also to try and understand and help other people who may do bad things, for whatever reason.

believe it or not, other countries(such as japan) has even a greater tolerance than we do. we're lying to ourselves by saying we're the most tolerant country in the world these days.

Once again, not the point. I'm not telling them, or anyone else how to live. I am simply asking, where does America draw the line? I appreciate that America is so open minded, but I think that we also have no boundaries. And knowing human nature, people will take it too far.

Some states still have the death penalty, but they dont ever use it. and no, most pedophiles are released after a few years imprisonment.

Accepting as in, there's always a reason, an excuse. People can avoid jail time if they plead as "mentally ill". He had a reason. He was crazy, etc. etc. Accepting as in, the blame never seems to fall on the individual himself. It falls on society, his parents, how he was treated. In that case, I simply think that people should be condemned and get many years, or the death penalty. None of this "insanity" stuff.

yeah murders are punished decently usually. A baby killer would get life in prison most likely. There are alot of dangerous people who are let off too easy though.

I believe you're referring to child molestation. Pedophilia is being attracted to children; nobody ever went to prison for being attracted to anything. At least not in America. I mean, not anytime recently at least.

It depends how recently you mean. Think Oscar Wilde.
