Hey everyone. Just wanted to let ya know that shawtygirl from here had her baby this morning! We're all so excited for her. It's a boy, she named him Simeon Logan. He was born around 3:10 AM, measured 20 inches and weighed about 6 lb, 10 oz. He's so cute I betcha! And I heard Simeon's 15-month-old big sis, Allegra is real excited, too. I'd post some pics of baby Simeon but I don't have any yet. I do have pics of baby supplies, for anyone that wants to see:

Nothing like overspending on carseats and strollers and such at babies r us. When you can be smart and get them at like target or something for about 100$ cheaper.

I got my eddie bauer stroller travel system for 100$ cheaper at target, than at Babies R Us

So she's bad for being able to spend money on her kid...?

No, but most people are better off saving money and buying cheaper when they can and young parents are hardly the exception.

I read a study once that young mothers are more likely be hyper materialistic about their kids than older women. So they often fall into buying expensive items just because they look cute.

A lot of baby things can be found for far cheaper at other stores or second hand through thrift stores or classifieds. I only spent $40 on my crib, instead of $300. So I had $260 to put into savings or spend on other necessities instead.   There's nothing wrong with splurging a little and some things shouldn't be bought second hand, such as car seats, but I never quite got this idea that your basic baby set up/nursery has to cost as much as a US University education.

I getcha.

I don't want to sound like a tightwad, I just see it a lot. A lot of my friends were so crazy with their money sometimes. Every other week they'd spend $60 on a pair of shoes for their under-1 year old babies (that weren't even walking) and they were on welfare! Then they wondered why they were always short of money to do other things. So silly.

I know! I can't stand that. People spend all their money on superficial shit and then take their food stamps to the grocery store.
