ive had a alpine cd player in my car since 2003...its given me hundreds maybe thousands of hours of crystal clear and skip free heavy metal and happiness. but...

for about the last 3-4 months ive had some trouble with the player. i burn a cd and play it, but someones only track 1 works....someones they dont play at all. ive also had the problem of the first minute of each song working than the player says ''error''. its gotten to the point, if im going somewhere i burn 3 copies of the cd i want in case i have these problems. theres also an issue of brand new cds skipping.

shit happened again today, i burned Death Magnetic and tracks 3,4,5,6 didnt play. so i burned another and it seemed to work.

any ideas on what i can do?

maybe its a dodgy disc u have. sometimes u get some that dont play in all cd players. alpine r very good, but occasionally the discs are pants! and yes the one with the brush is what i meant! ive never had a problem with mine and it was my bros for about 6 years before i had it!

If it's a five year old CD player, I'm surprised it's worked as long as it has. I've had one since 2005 (Panasonic CQ5301U) and it's coming time for replacement. Sometimes the aftermarket units aren't made as well as factory car cd players, and parts can give out.

I think your best option would be to possibly buy a new one.

Personally speaking, my brother has had his ALPINE head unit since 2003 or so.. And has used it *every single day* For at least 45 minutes a day. It has never once let him down.

I have also had good luck with Panasonic.

Could be dirty or could be on its last leg.

I've had good luck with Sony decks lately.

that's what i'm thinking, it might be the format of the CD's or even the cd file format and thus the player isn't recognizing it.
