I really am beginning to take a liking to the 2000-2005 Cadillac DTS..

I detailed a 2001 Cadillac DHS *lower end model* of the DTS *top of the line* and LOVED the features within.

Here's a screenshot of the wikipedia article on the Deville and some info / numbers on this car that I'm looking at.

And some pics of what I'd be looking at.. Either black, or pearlescent white. maybe even silver. you have no idea how long it took me to get these pics (about 10 minutes of searching the net.. not many pics of DTS' that are worthwhile.

what doo you think ?

there was even a custom one GM made . What happened to it , I don't know.. but it was called the DTS-M. Sharp looking car

You don't have good taste in cars. Why? You have a PT cruiser.

Why don't you give me a suggestion why they last so much longer? Last time I checked, there's more foreign cars in junkyards if anything.

I'm not liking it.

It creeps me out that you know that, and I love my PT Cruiser.

Change to a volkswagen man. nothing better than German engineering

-- Posted by ss454 at 4:21 pm on Sep. 5, 2008

except American engineering.

-- Posted by emo sux69 at 4:33 pm on Sep. 5, 2008

That caddy is probably the most cleanest one Ive seen and doesn't use too much chrome, very big though with V8 may hurt on the gas though, but if i was in your situation i would fuck it and get it anyway.

Btw don't tell me its FWD.

and German engineering is for homos

Aussie engineering FTW

-- Posted by FTF at 6:10 pm on Sep. 5, 2008

Its front drive. Like a Tempo, or a Corolla. Not only that but it sucks gas like none other and at the same time its not all that powerful, nor is it that fast. Or good looking.

It's a 300 horsepower V8 with 4.6 liters and quad cams. It's powerful, silky smooth, and reliable.

*Facepalm*  Mechanically Volkswagen's aren't bad cars, but when it comes to the electronics its horrible.

To the OP.  Personally I'm not a fan of Cadillacs.  They are boats and they are granny mobiles for people who grew up in 30's.  If I was going to go luxury I'd get a BMW or Lexus.  They have style, class, modern appeal, power, and are more prestigious than Cadillacs.  But this is just my opinion in the end its all up to you.

-- Posted by Holden Commodore at 11:42 pm on Sep. 5, 2008

They are prestigious here because they weren't made here *bmw* or *lexus*

most of them are made overseas. bmw's are like cadillac's here.

Is that why the CTS has been doing so well? It lacks Prestige?

300. Not powerful. When I think of powerful I think of 400-500HP from a V8. Ford, Chevy, and even Dodge/Chrysler have done this many a time. Not to mention, why does a FWD car have a V8? Its not going to move fast in anything other then an airport runway. Even then, its so damn heavy its not going to blow much else away.

Ford's go that 405HP V6 coming out in a year in the MKS. Food for thought.

405HP V6?

What did they do, bring back the motor from the Jag XJ220?

Direct injection, E85 capabilities, two turbochargers on the V6 (one for the inline four). Ford's next "Duratec". It will make its way into Mustang, Lincoln MKT and MKS, Taurus, possibly even F-150, Fusion, and Focus.

The handling on these FWD cars (not Mustang, F-150) will be catastrophic. Why don't people just make their cars weak and FWD, or powerful and RWD? You can really only have one.

Pretty sure that car has been derailed until 2012. I'll see if I can find the link.

And obviously you've not seen some high hp fwd cars, even those doing a 1/4 in 8 secs. Sure it takes work but FWD can be very fast.

Motor Trend is reporting in its October 2008 issue that Ford has decided to delay the Fusion GT, an EcoBoost-powered super sedan producing upwards of 340 horsepower. The original plan was to have the GT model arrive at the tail end of the current Fusion's product cycle as a low-volume, super niche send off to the successful mid-sizer before it merges with the European EUCD platform that underpins the Mondeo. The problem is that Ford is planning a big roll-out for EcoBoost engines across its brands and there may not be enough to spare for the Fusion GT. MT is now saying that the Fusion GT will debut around 2012 after the next-generation sedan debuts on the European platform and the automaker's ability to pump out turbocharged, direct-inject engines is up to speed. The good news is that the spiritual successor to the Taurus SHO has not been cancelled altogether, and by 2012 we should be able to drive it.

Punky..

8.902@154.90

-- Posted by emo sux69 at 3:15 am on Sep. 7, 2008

Straight line speed Can be had with any drive train, what he is talking about is the handling characteristics.

try driving around a corner at full throttle in one of those you won't even turn.

-- Posted by tempoluvver69 at 9:23 am on Sep. 7, 2008

well its a luxury car, not a sports car, so you shouldnt expect it to handle like one.

So punky is aparantly bashing it because it doesnt handle that great but is powerful.

Lets take a look at punky's cars

1980 somethin tempo- slower than my bicycle, and probably handles worse than a dump truck

1994 cheyenne- under 250 horesepower (with over a liter more than the caddy)
