That like 80% of people who try to be/look "unique", or try to avoid the media's influence, or claim to do both, seem to have roughly the same style? I mean it's like half of them don't realize it's anything BUT unique.
Like 90% of them will wear gallons of eye makeup(black eyeliner in particular) have choppy chin/shoulder-length straightened hair, often died obnoxious shades of black/red/platinum blonde/pink/purple/etc. and most of them will wear EITHER constant "funky" bright colours or ONLY black.. kind of the emo/scene/goth etc. look..

Well I'll admit I have some friends with that look  and I kind of like the look, but jesus it just makes you look like EVERYONE ELSE. Just had to clear that up.

I agree.

But it bothers people like you.
I think that's their main goal.

And yeah, everyone looks like everyone.

My friend Samanna does that, but she actually does manage to look unique and stand out. It's crazy.

I stand out because I have such mismatched clothes and great taste, which most lack.

I totally agree with you. I've notcied this a while ago. I used to be like that, back when everyone was dressing all preppy. Then, when this whoe "unique" idea swept through everyone's minds everyone looked like everyone else and I realized I was no longer unique. Now that I'm just dressing however I feel, not caring, I realized that I'm more unique than I've ever been because I'm not trying to be.

This has been said many times before.

Being unique is losing its originality.

-- Posted by HiRyo at 10:51 am on Sep. 6, 2008

Hahaha this actually made my day.

They're not trying to be unquie theres a reason they look the same.

It's a certine style. I'm assuming your talking about the scene style thats been around forever.
If anything they're trying to be unquie from the "mainstream" aka those hollister shirts and plaid shorts.

It's not obnoxious its how they want to look. If you don't appericate it then keep it to yourself let people do whatever the fuck they want to.

i'm glad someone else caught that.

Maybe they just like it? I am one of those people who dyes their hair bright colours or wear bright clothes, and then sometimes black. But only when my mood changes. Plus I wear what I like. Not to follow a trend or to look different.
