ok, im using my grandfathers computer (which is horrible) but he wants me to get rid of some thing called "Sonic Activation Module".... he has apparantly tried everything to get rid of it and still cant, anyone else know how to get rid of it?

I need to get rid of this same thing...every time the computer starts it tries to install it.

From Dell's support site:


Download and Run the Sonic Isum_hotfix.exe File


  • Open a Web browser such as Windows® Internet Explorer®, and then click the following link: ISUM_hotfix.exe
  • In the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
  • In the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window, click Run.
  • In the Sonic - ISUM Hotfix Setup window, click Yes to install the hotfix.
  • When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.


  • Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. To do this, follow these steps:
  • Open a Web browser such as Internet Explorer, and then browse to the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: "Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" Article ID: 290301.
  • In the More Information section of the article, click Download the Windows Installer CleanUp package now.
  • In the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
  • In the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window, click Run.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
  • Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Installer Clean Up.
