How do you think the shit will hit the fan, intellectuals? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risks_to_civilization,_humans_and_planet_Earth

I don't think people will fuck themselves over. We may be dumb at times, but shit won't get that heavy. I am for the sun exploding.

I think that we will eventually end up killing everything around us and having nothing else will die off as a species and the world will slowly start over

Either; a) Due to the sun becoming a Red Giant the Earth will get gradually closer to the sun so much that the heat melts the ice caps, causing floods, and the heat is too great for people to survive. They die from heat strokes, drowning and suicide, and then the Earth is engulfed by the Sun. Some might survive to die closer to the sun, but highly unlikely to survive before impact, or, b) The Earth manages to survive the Sun turning into a Red Giant and isn't engulfed by the it. However due to the rises in solar temperature and stellar winds, the atmosphere is lost, water evaporates and the humans die from the heat or asphyxiation.

The risk to Earth... hmm, nova or collision with... is it Andromeda we're due to hit in 152 million years? Honestly, I perceive the only true risk to civilisation/humanity is annihilation by a greater species. We're not dumb enough to kill ourselves, and we're not dumb enough to allow ourselves to be wiped out by the death of our star. Entropic decay is certain and as such not a risk per se. So yea, something else killing us off.
