Any tips on how I'd work on developing an american accent? I try a lot but it just seems so unnatural and as a girl, I always seem to go higher pitched when putting on the accent. It sounds so unnantural to me saying "drama" instead of "drar-mar" although it may sound normal to someone else who has never heard me speak before. I have a pretty strong Australian accent, any tips? Maybe from someone who is farily familiar with both dialects?

Hear more people speaking with the American accent.

On a side note, by wanting to change from a Australian to American accent you've automatically done more to learn our language then hundreds of thousands of immigrants.

It's just an important skill, especially a rising artist. If I want to find work, it's important to be able to do accents.

I don't want to CHANGE my accent. I'll agree that the aussie accent is much better. I just want to be able to do it for acting purposes.

Try a southern/Texan one. I've noticed Brit (and I'd guess Aussies too) have the easiest time imitating those accents

As others have said, immerse yourself in Americana. Listen to American newscasters. They are generally regarded as having "ideal" American accents.

We'd say "Drumma", no emphasis on the "er"

In some parts of the nation someone might say Drummah so like a said a Southern/Texan accent would be the easiest accent to pick up
