It went rather well. I'm a caregiver and my job is relatively easy. I met a lot of the residents and they are all very sweet. This one lady her name is Elaine and she is very nice. However she is very paranoid among other things. She is a permanent resident and she is always asking the staff if she is being moved and that she doesn't want to die there. She doesn't know any better and we reassure her that she isn't going to be moved. My Supervisor today since it was my 1st day was telling me about how she says random things and explained how to handle things. We were giving out medication today in the caregiver's office and Elaine comes up to us and says "The Tv Told me I was a Lesbian", normally I would have laughed but it was very inappropriate to do so, so I restrained myself. It was random and she began to laugh at herself. I feel so bad for the poor dear =/ She gets picked on by some of the other residents, she is indeed however a very sweet soul =] I think I'm going to like my new job even though it was only my first day.

I worked at a Lutheran Home before (pretty much a retirement home)... It was probably one of the worst experiences of my life to be honest. I quit after only 2 months of being there, and that was only because I kept putting off that I was going to tell them I was quitting. I worked in the kitchen though, so maybe it's different. The smell of it all was just terrible too haha.

Glad you are enjoying it though

I applaud you for taking on such a responsibility!
My aunt works in a group home, for the mentally ill. And my brother in autistic.
It's so sad seeing these people, so close to what we refer to as "normal" but just far enough away to land them there.
Elaine sounds like a sweetheart. I hope you take extra special care of her.
