I just moved in my cousins house 5 days ago and i woke up yesterday with the whole row of cars been keyed.

I have a 06 black mica Mazda 3. the damage is $1200. is there a way i can get a pint of black mica paint and have a body shop do it for cheaper?

im short on cash and i dont feel its right for me to pay for it.

any possibilities?

no. its like a god damn strip across my car. it started from the taillight to the door mirror. they would have to repaint it.

Most auto shops can give you the paint code and you can order the body paint yourself and do it for under 30$

1200? are you sure? why is it so much?

-- Posted by UndergroundKing at 12:34 pm on Sep. 25, 2008

You didn't have full coverage?  On an 06?  Shit....  Thats a bummer.

Why does it cost so much?

The shop is gonna have to featheredge, or sand around the scratch to smooth out the edges of the scratch and then repaint the entire area.

Call your insurance company. If it is covered under comprehensive your rates wont go up. And buying a bottle of matching paint and trying to paint the scratch is a bad idea.

It's a good idea if you want a giant streak across the side of the car made of brush marks

How deep is it? Try going over it with some polishing compound before anything. You'd be surprised what it can get out.

I've had my car keyed once or twice. File a police report, and make your insurance cover it.

ye, paint jobs are expensive. i dont think you and going to get anything cheaper. you are lucky it is $1200 cause usually a paint job on a car costs around $2000
