Even if God is real, what has God done to help us? Nothing. So why waste time hoping for something that is either not real, or didn't really do anything except maybe gave us free will? God did not invent Christianity, Buddhism, or any moral code, man did. If there is a Jesus why not every Christians get a miracle? The point of this is how about you religious morons stop praying to god for a better future(because praying won't do anything) and instead, actually do something productive to help the environment.

Religious people will think otherwise about who God is to them. If we're talking in a general sense, God created everything.

-- Posted by HuffleHaire at 4:59 pm on Sep. 25, 2008

If in this hypothetical situation you believe there IS a God, he or she would be responsible for allowing us to live at all. And that's what he or she gave us. Life.

And to see the light, you need dark. If everyone got miracles, they wouldn't be miracles; they'd be commonplace.

Just saying.

Hey for all we know, Jesus could even be black. Who said he has to be a white man? And as far as I know, the only miracle that ever happen is when that meteorite killed all the dinosaurs. And God is suppose to love all living things?

You know that Buddhists don't believe Buddha is a God, right?

but believing that sitting under a tree for several days will make you enlighten is no different than believing in a magical being

Meditation =/= believing in God.

Jesus was Jewish, from Nazareth in Israel. Also, if God does exist, then how could you, one of His creations, ever presume to even begin to understand His plan or purpose? Answer: you can't. So, don't believe it, but that doesn't mean that everyone who does is a moron.

Jesus was an arab by origin, you know that right? He almost certainly was not white.

Why not, who says it's a waste?

God did not invent Christianity, Buddhism, or any moral code, man did.

To Christians the bible = THE WORDS OF GOD
Buddhists aren't theists in the traditional sense.
There are many religions which claim that god was the inspiration and/or cause of their moral code, this is completely retarded, and it's begging the question.

If there is a Jesus why not every Christians get a miracle?

Wat?

The point of this is how about you religious morons stop praying to god for a better future(because praying won't do anything-assumption) and instead, actually do something productive to help the environment.

Begging the question.

Overall this is one of the more retarded and pretentious thing I've ever seen written under the assumption that you are actually correct but not providing anything convincing.

To call everyone that has faith in a religion a moron, and to demean their own personal choice to believe in God, is a very stupid and self cutting thing. Whether or not a person believes in God, or any religion for that choice, is not for you, or any one person to decide. It is that person, and that person only who makes the decission. And for you to look down on someone for having faith in a religion, is disgusting.
What has religion ever done to provoke this?
Firstly: You say that all Christians should get miracles, this clearly means you have no clue what you are talking about. Miracles, can be anything. It doesnt take a person walking on water, to be a miracle, or a man turning fire to ice. A mirracle can be anything.
A person with cancer, with a 95% chance of death, yet they survive. That is a mirracle.
A person falling out of a plane, Thirty thousand feet. Breaking every bone in their body, but surviving. That is a mirracle.
A person almost dead, on their last ounce of strength, looking for a donor organ, and one comes. That is a mirracle.
So Mirracles do happen, firstly. And your definition of a mirracle is very very very aethiestic and childish. Clearly you do not know what you are talking about.

Secondly: You say Even if God is real, what has God done to help us? Imagine a world without faith. What is it? It is a world, where people do not fear their actions in life. It is a world, where murder, rape, torture, genocide, stealing and everyother crime goes without conscience, or regret. It is a world, where even though laws exist, there is no reason to keep them. God doesnt exist in that world, so actions on Earth, won't go punished. So what we would have, if god didnt exist, is a world without morals. What has he done to help us? Simply what I stated: He has given people a reason to fear their actions in life, and take responsibility for them.

Thirdly: You say God did not invent Christianity, Buddhism, or any moral code, man did. No, God did not create any of these religions. Man did. And you should be damn glad they did too. Cause as I said, if there was no religion, there would be no morals. And Christianity was created by Jesus, technically, who was the son of God, when he got the 12 disciples to follow him, so once again, you are wrong here.

Lastly: You say The point of this is how about you religious morons stop praying to god for a better future(because praying won't do anything) and instead, actually do something productive to help the environment. No no no no no. Religious morons, is, as I said, a very bad thing to say.

You clearly do not understand a single thing about what you are talking, and you grossly mis-understand the meaning of religions. They are not all about praying. They are basically guidelines, on how to live a good life.

My advice to you: Please do not make topics like this again, as to do so, really shows that you are ignorant on the subject, and probably just some athiest 14 year old goth, who lives in their room.

Thanks for reading this.

I believe in god. I think he created the universe (though not in the same way Christians believe) with the gift to make of life what we will, to live it however we wish, without divine interference. but I think my signature says it all.

If there's no morality without religion than how are there moral atheists?

-- Posted by sadnessness at 8:39 am on Oct. 19, 2008

There are some things that i disagree with Brian about, namely, that i am an atheist, and i do not keep the law because i am scared that a thunderbolt will come down, or that i will burn in hell, i keep to the law because i do not believe in causing unneccessary suffering to my fellow human beings.
It is extremely insulting to attack at atheist who thinks that faith is ridiculous, and pay no regard to those religions maniacs who think that all who dont believe in God are pure evil. Are they not judging just as much?
There is more but i am not going to go on.

My last point is this: "miracle" not "mirracle"

maybe youre just an 18 year old Bible basher, if we are going to throw insulting terms around?

I didn't say there was no morality without religion, I said that religion is a major influence on morality. Having a God figure, that offers "rewards" for living a good life, will influence people to do right.

-- Posted by Bearsy at 2:08 pm on Oct. 19, 2008

You did.

Also if you think that your conscience is what makes you fear consequences when you've done wrong, not the feeling of upset only because you've done something immoral, you have no conscience.
