That really, really bugs me.

It's like "are you not proud to be of your own race?"

Many times, where I live, it's the Black people. Not sure why.

A lot of the black kids around here will go around saying stuff like "I'm Black and Asian", and then you ask, "So, which one of your parents is Asian?" and then they'll say something like "Oh, my great grandfather".

Or my great grandfather is Native American.

Or, he's White.

Or he's Hispanic, because I'm 1/4 Puerto Rican!

Seriously, what's the deal? Why do you need to be everything but Black? Why are you lying?

That just bothers me.

Perhaps they feel like there is nothing to be proud of in their race. Maybe. Idk.

Maybe they're telling the truth?

yea why didn't you think of that

-- Posted by Dylan6405 at 8:30 am on Sep. 27, 2008

I don't get why people would do that. That's like wiggers... white people acting black piss me off

Maybe they're telling the truth?

If you're great great grandfather is asian, that does not make you a full blooded asian. Seriously.

I didn't say that they were lying about perhaps having mixed ancestry somewhere along the line. The point was, why are they going around speaking japanese and claiming to be japanese if the last japanese person in their family was three generations ago?

I also hate when people ask me why it matters.

I simply said that it was annoying, because I don't understand why someone would want to go around emphasizing on being, say, 2% something else.

what the hell is that?

-- Posted by Duke at 8:33 am on Sep. 27, 2008

What possible difference does it make to you?

We just sometimes want to be different from all of the other blacks in our nieghborhood.

I'm black and my garndmother is Indian. so I'm 1/4 indian and 3/4 black. I'm telling the truth but I don't go around flaunting it as if I'm somthing that I'm not.

-- Posted by Aerie at 8:42 am on Sep. 27, 2008

I'm black but I have a bunch of other stuff from waaaaaaaayyy back, and I tell people about it. Why? Cause i'm proud of everything I am.
Maybe it's the same with the kids in your area...or then again they could just be Tiger Woods.

-- Posted by IndecisiveBitch at 8:42 am on Sep. 27, 2008

People feel the need to lie about a lot of things.

-- Posted by Feminawesome at 8:42 am on Sep. 27, 2008

I'm a quarter latina and I consider myself biracial. Sorry if I'm not "latina enough" for you.

My dad is completely devoted to his heritage and at one point was president of MAHA, the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys... he's very involved in the community and since I was raised that way, i think I'm entitled to call myself whatever the heck I want, thanks.

they may be proud of that factor.

Dare to be different leaps to mind.

When i was younger i used to tell people i was half dryad (tree person) because its cool. Its just something people do!

its a factor of interest for others.

The Blacks around here could be have 1 Black parent and 1 White parent, yet consider themselves Black instead of White.

Also, they could be 3/4 White and 1/4 Black and consider themselves Black again.

Maybe where you live it's different, but around here people call themselves Black if they're like that (unless they're Hispanic).

They're just following the white man's cue.

Whites can be Hispanic, it's not a race.

-- Posted by The Artful Dodger at 7:43 pm on Sep. 27, 2008

Yeah. I don't like it either.

-- Posted by Headst0ck at 7:45 pm on Sep. 27, 2008

They're probably self-hating.....I know a lot of people like that who actually resent being black.

-- Posted by The Artful Dodger at 7:49 pm on Sep. 27, 2008

I use to hate being black when I was little. Then high school came. Thats where all the black kids have to assert their 'blackness' to the pale skinned majority. Compensating for number with volume. Now I feel alot more grownup, and comfortable in my skin.

It's tough to find a 100% pure black person in the US or Canada anyway, so that's why alot of kids feel they should play-up their genetic 'diversity'. Unfortunately what it comes out as is "I'm not like those other black people. I'm better".

I know, let me rephrase that, most white Americans tend to say that they're Hispanic.

-- Posted by jakelong at 10:09 pm on Sep. 27, 2008

I'm neither proud nor ashamed of my heritage.

I like it I enjoy it. But its not like THE MOST important thing in life.

People who want to to hide their black heritage are sad like they are ashamed of it. That is sad.

People who are proud to be white and think that is the most important thing in the world are also sad.

Most of them?

Around here, Whites don't approve of the Hispanic influence.

Go to Saint Cloud High. I've spoken to the Whites there, they want to go to Harmony because they'd "rather be with Niggers than Spics".

Keep in mind this isn't only Rednecks that I've spoken to, I only know about 3 Rednecks in that whole school and one in mine.
