I'm just curious how many people around my age have never had a job. I'm 19 and I live at my parents house and have never had a job. I've been trying to get one for the past 6 or so months. How about you?

It's not hard to find a job. Fast food joints are always hiring. It sucks, but you have to start some where.

I've worked at McD's, Coach House gifts, and currently have been working at  our local college's cafeteria for the past 3 years.

Yes, I've had a real job.  The past year, I had three real jobs, even though I was seventeen for part of it.  Now I just work very short hours at 2 of them, but may occasionally go in to help at the third (though I rarely have time anyway).

Define "real job."

Define "real job."

Doesn't involve standing out front of Home Depot.

-- Posted by espresso8097 at 8:47 pm on Sep. 29, 2008

I chose to get my first job at 16 as a lifeguard.  Worked at the same place doing that for over two years.  Then when I moved down-state I got a job as a lifeguard again.

-- Posted by Daleacus at 2:43 pm on Sep. 30, 2008

19, never had a job. I've worked for money loads of times, occasionally as a kind of labourer for family (Dad's a builder), but never real employment.

I was accepted into M&S but quit after training. And got paid. I'm still surprised they didn't take me to court, but, I did have a valid reason.

-- Posted by An Hero at 6:19 pm on Sep. 30, 2008

I do!!!!!!!!

-- Posted by Chiefette at 8:12 am on Oct. 1, 2008

I've had a job since 16.
