I'm probably more feminists than feminists are, but I'm an entirely different type of feminist than all other feminists are. Women of the world, you are not being degraded if someone tell you you're hot. You're being complimented. The only word I can think of right now that I like less than degrading is ignorant.

I agree.

it depends on the manner that we are told we're hot. sometimes it's just a guys way of saying "hey. you're attractive"......for some guys....it means something dirty to them. and it's quite annoying....

I just don't like the word hot. I don't think it degrades me, but I'd rather have other words used about me than the ones that are used to describe an oven plate.

Being told you're attractive is fine in itself, but if it's part of a general feeling of 'your looks are all that you're good for', then it gets insulting. But to me, a compliment is great. Especially as I'm a bit of a swamp donkey and don't get 'em too often! :D

I think in a professional establishment, it's very DEGRADING to be called something of that nature. Other than that, the use of the word 'hot' isn't really degrading. I agree that, in most cases, it's a compliment and not a derogatory comment.
