My mom is afraid of me and I really don't know what to do about it. She fears me because I am the "strong, silent" type and she thinks I am psychotic and bound to break at any minute. Anyone else have this problem? I already have self confidence/self image problems and these just worsen it. How do I deal with it?

Tell her.

You can talk to her about it.Or try acting all soft and child like when you are with her. Such as hugging her.

What? I WANT my mom to fear me. Try being more sensitive and kind, ask for a puppy, but DON'T KILL IT.

Lulz...people that don't know me, after I talk to them and we get along, tell me that...they somehow get this vibe that I'm not to be touched or looked at at all. What I did to fix my low self-image and confidence levels was: I became friends with nice people that would boost my image, I keep thinking about the things that make me ME and cool, I bettered myself with knowledge on things that interested me...to boost my morale. You could try those things before you try the "just go out and talk to people" idea...you need things in common to talk to people so that they won't think you are weird or hitting on them.

How about suggesting some thoughtful things.. like grabbing brunch together on a Sunday morning? Or ask her how her day was. You might just have to do it once or twice for her to stop get over being paranoid about you. How 'fearful' is she anyway?

I get this too. People tell me I give off a really bad vibe and give off some of the coldest stares. My friends call me Micheal Scofield lol.

She has started avoiding any type of conversation or contact with me. I am only 17.

Pff, we don't need no momma time. So long as she stops telling us that she's scared, is all good.
