As long as you dont let it get out of control (i know what your thinking, it will end up leading there) but why is it considered so bad. its a way to deal with pain. people say that it is just temporary relief, not going to help, but thats the same as punching your pillow, walking, listening to music, they dont help but they are accebtable, so why is cutting so bad?

because it takes away from otherwise hot emo chicks.

Cause I don't want your AID's.

-- Posted by kay dee at 4:19 pm on Oct. 6, 2008

Because you wind up with a lot of regret, scars, and in some cases tetanus?

-- Posted by oliveohm at 4:19 pm on Oct. 6, 2008

it's not necessarily so bad in itself, but it does signal more serious emotional problems. those are the things you need to deal with. it's not just a matter of stopping the cutting.

It's addicting.
It's not the same as punching you pillow. You're not harming yourself when punching a pillow.

Because you are harming yourself.  In a way that could possibly lead to death. A simple miscalulation could lead to a majoound that would result in death.

Because you end up looking like you lost a fight with the Shredder, and that's just not an attractive look.

Besides, sex is like 10x healthier.

How is me cutting myself in the privacy of my room, with my own sterile razor going to give you the AIDs that I dont have?

Anyways, I agree with the OP.

yeah i guess its just cause your harming yourself and you could cause a big problem with just the tiniest mistake.
but... Ive never really seen it that way.

It's a sick addiction to the pleasure of pain. And, what's so bad about it is it's self-harm. And I know two people who use to cut, and now when ever they get tan, or are in the right lighting you can see scars; so it also has long-term effects.

I use to cut as well. It may be temporary, but it only helps so much; and only for a short time.
Be careful.

Cutting is basically a way of saying you need help. It shows that you have emotional issues and the only way you can think of dealing with them is harming yourself. In many cases, people think it will get out of hand even though it probably won't, which could possibly be one reason why it is so bad. And society has a problem with people injuring themselves for pleasure. You can't really blame them though. Pain has always been seen as a bad thing and now people are doing it to themselves because they are stressed. It's not necessarily a good thing.

Only retarded people who have no clue what they are doing, or how to do it actually cut ANYWHERE near the vain.

In order to hit a vain, I would have to turn my wrist 90 degrees, and be at least two inches away from where I normally cut.
