And I know two people who use to cut, and now when ever they get tan, or are in the right lighting you can see scars; so it also has long-term effects. I use to cut as well. It may be temporary, but it only helps so much; and only for a short time. It shows that you have emotional issues and the only way you can think of dealing with them is harming yourself. In many cases, people think it will get out of hand even though it probably won't, which could possibly be one reason why it is so bad. And society has a problem with people injuring themselves for pleasure. You can't really blame them though. Pain has always been seen as a bad thing and now people are doing it to themselves because they are stressed.
