he wasnt bad but he rebelled agianst god and created his own world
-- Posted by SunnySky at 5:18 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
Possibly because it is mythology. Satan is gods inner demon and god is man.
-- Posted by HiRyo at 5:18 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
Because one of this angels decided to be a bad ass and rebel against the man. If Satan were human, he'd be the king of all punks.

He knew he'd betray him and hell would result didn't he? Either really dumb or really mean.

well, obviously! y else?

God created angels and one was a bigger bitch than all the others. He didn't directly create Satan. He instead created free will. And hence a bitch was formed that was a bigger bitch than all the other angels. I like that answer.

WRONG! he didnt create his own world. He tryed to rebel against god, failed, and was sent as far away as possible from God, which is hell.

He needed someone to keep him sane Family Guy explains it all
-- Posted by Doghouse at 5:21 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
because God was bored.
-- Posted by Radioactivv at 5:21 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
Satan used to be an Angel but he wanted to be better than God so St. Micheal the Arch Angel sent him to Hell.
-- Posted by anc8469 at 5:22 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
At first he was Lucifer(however you spell it). While he was in Heaven he was a very higher power angel. Then while he was in heaven he wanted total power and control or something like that. After that God then made Hell where he (and everyone else that makes the decision to go there and not be Christian).

How is that dumb, though? He needed someone to be in charge of people who sinned, and Satan was probably just the right person to do so. I mean, he obviously knew that people would sin, and he'd have to do something with them. Besides making his "job" any harder than it actually is, he got Satan. Seems pretty logical.

Could God Possibly Be A Tyrant? Maybe God Tried To Enslave Man To Work For Him. Then Satan Revolted Against God. All in all its a story to explain questions early humans had.
-- Posted by Omnipotent Pontiff at 5:24 pm on Oct. 6, 2008
Well from the philosophical standpoint God didn't create Satan, both just had to always exist. God wouldn't be seen as good if there wasn't the relative evil that is Satan. They are just symbols to represent good and evil. Polar opposites to keep things in balance.

How can you say that people who aren't Christian choose to go there? Most non-Christians don't actually believe in hell, so how can they choose to go there?

Why do they need someone in charge of them? Is there a risk they'll break out?
