Anybody who thinks something is true because it's written in the bible is a fool. The thing has been re-written and translated so many times over the last 2000 years, it's impossible to accredit it.

Do you know how new books were made before the printing press was invented? People copied the original word-for-word by hand. The bible has been lost in translation and who's to say that the people copying it actually copied it correctly? Who's to say the copiers didn't insert their own little tidbits?

Bottom line, the bible is worthless dribble.

-- Posted by sexilexipmsi at 6:20 pm on Oct. 9, 2008

true, the bases of it are right tho, like jesus being the sun of god.
maybe some dude just hated gays so he threw that in there that they will go to hell... who knows.
but i bealive the bases of it to be accurate.

-- Posted by driscoll1997 at 6:20 pm on Oct. 9, 2008

Wow ure retarted for calling it worthless dribble, seeing that we have pieces of the bible that date back to 500 BC and the are good matches to the one we have today. I agree though there are many mistakes, but the original message is still intact. Calling it worthless dribble though is ignorant seeing that it itself is a literary masterpiece.

Some people changed some parts of the bible over time.

Theres evidence somewhere, i learnt it in history class once.

I can't actually remember. Shows how credible my contribution is

STAR WARS IS BETTER!

-- Posted by seekingsimplicity at 6:21 pm on Oct. 9, 2008

also, when the romans got their hands on it, they just pulled large chunks of the bible out of it so that it'd be a good basis for the nations religion. apparently stuff about jesus being really violent was removed.
also, i dunno which languages it was, but during a translation, the word "virgin" when refering to mary actually had a double meaning. it was either "virgin" or "beautiful" i think, and the translators just thought virgin would be cooler.

some parts
small parts
not big enough parts to make any sort of difference on the meaning it presents

No, the Force is what me and all you other Jedis have.  Don't diss the Force.  It is divine.  It is THE FORCE =O

Who says nobody believes Star Wars actually happened?  I do believe that I am somebody.

He is not dissing. They actually talked about the relation between miticlorians and force in the SW movies.

That's not a very convincing argument.

-- Posted by The Samsoniteman at 7:42 pm on Oct. 10, 2008

"Reputable" is the wrong word. We should consider reliability, credibility of the author and the authenticity of the source.

The Bible presumably scores with a big range in these terms, some parts very poorly and others relatively highly, due to the number of authors and its age. It really depends on what you're using the source for, then you can apply historiography properly.
