As imperceptibly as grief
The summer lapsed away,
Too imperceptible at last
To seem like perfidyº.     ºtreachery

A quietness distilled
As twilight long begun,
Or nature spending with herself
Sequesteredº afternoon.        ºkept secret and secluded

The dusk drew earlier in,
The morning foreign shone -
A courteous, yet harrowingº grace,     ºagonizing
As guest who would be gone.

And thus, without a wing
Or service of a keelº,                        ºto collapse or fall
Our summer made her light escape
Into the beautiful

Okay, my question is, what does "the morning foreign shone" means?

Anyone?!

the morning is foreign to her, just like it says. It shines in a seemingly soft way, but is foreign to her, therefore she is uncomfortable.... Idk, I'm too tired to read the whole thing right now, but just glancing at it, I'm assuming that's what it means...

wait... i ended up reading it anyway... ok, the poem is about how things come and go, how summer is fading, as beauty fades... Therefore your question is answered by saying what I have already said, and also the fact that she is saying that summer is changing and will soon be gone, and this is why it is foreign to her. Help any?
