Do you believe that suicide is a sin? Do you think someone who commits suicide goes to heaven?
-- Posted by Crazy snake at 9:01 am on Oct. 12, 2008

they better fuckin had for the raw deal they've had on earth

It's not really a sin, just the ultimate form of dispair. You'll notice that in Greek Mythology, there are many that kill themselves and still only go to regular Hades, not Tartarus. In my opinion, there is an afterlife and committing suicide, while not the best way to go, will still only get you there.

I don't think committing suicide is a sin. People who do it have their reason. Just because they kill them selves doesn't mean that otherwise they don't deserve to go to heaven. I think that even if someone commits suicide they still go to heaven.

even if u sin u still go to heaven. as long as u were a christian.

Its a sin, but they can either go to heaven or hell, it depends they might be forgiven.

I believe in an afterlife, not heaven or hell.

I believe that someone who wants to die so badly that they kill themselves, they probably don't even believe in heaven or hell or limbo or valhalla or wherever. Therefore, I feel this topic is pointless.

I heard that Heaven was some place near Malaysia. So, I don't think that dead people travel there... lol

My uncle killed himself and he believed in heaven and hell...so you would be wrong.

Whether or not someone who commits suicide goes to Heaven has nothing to do with the suicide itself and everything to do with Who they know.

It is considered murder, to yourself.

And where does the Bible say that?

...That's probably the worst explanation of anything like this I've ever seen. It's saying if you killed your entire family you'll still go to heaven because you believe in it.

"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God... but while were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans If he/she asked Jesus to take the penalty of Sin for him, then yes they are saved. However if someone takes their own life you have to wonder why? If someone calls themelves a christian and then commits suicide, you have to question how genuine their faith was, perhaps they were like the seed that landed in the thorny path

...why does committing suicide make someone less of a Christian? Or are you stupid enough to think that Christians are magically immune to depression?

I thought suicide was unequivocally a sin, and arguing otherwise required the brutal abuse of semantics? Noting now that committing a sin does not automatically disqualify one from heaven.

IMO people who kill themselves can go to heaven if they were good people, and if not they won't.

No of course not, one of my best friends is both a follower of Jesus and a depression sufferer. However I believe and the bible says that Jesus transforms your live, gives you a new hope when you become a christian. So taking your life away is rebelling against God (sinning). So you have to question why, not immeadiately jump to conclusions.

Perhaps because depression is often a clinical problem and the persons who suffer from depression aren't always responsible for their actions? I don't think it's your place to call anyone "less" Christian for committing suicide...they're no "less" Christian than a Christian who lies or a Christian who has extra-marital sex.
