so for Xmas, I can get a computer that costs no more than 1100$

I want to be able to run crysis at its full potential, and the computer be pretty fast. Can anyone tell me what computer I should get?

I got a really good Hewlett-Packard for 750 euros.

Ill try and remember the specs:

intel duo processor 2ghz
3gb ram
nvidia geforce 8400m gs

Thats off the welcome centre, but its really good, great sound, great screen. It has a remote control and blu ray drive.

Is building your own an option? Because you'll get a helluva lot more for that if you do it yourself.

Btw at my school we all are required to buy the same laptops, my roommate plays Crysis and he can't do it at full potential. Our specs? 2.6 GHz Intel dualcore, 3 gigs RAM, 256 mb nVidia quadro graphics cards.

The cost? $2400 (though like $300 of that was software, but still, a thousand over your desired cost).

My advice, get a desktop... they cost less for the same specs, have better cooling, are easier to upgrade. My first question though, is can you build one on your own?

You are NOT getting something that can play Crysis at its full spec for that price.

Most tri-SLI rigs (GTX280s) can barely handle Crysis maxed out.

Get a mid-range gaming rig with an 8800, or higher (but not a lower 9 series, those are just crap....9800 is fine). Dont expect to be playing Crysis on high with full res though. Its one or the other: High res, or high spec.
