Because you'll get a helluva lot more for that if you do it yourself. Btw at my school we all are required to buy the same laptops, my roommate plays Crysis and he can't do it at full potential. Our specs? 2.6 GHz Intel dualcore, 3 gigs RAM, 256 mb nVidia quadro graphics cards. The cost? $2400 (though like $300 of that was software, but still, a thousand over your desired cost). My advice, get a desktop... they cost less for the same specs, have better cooling, are easier to upgrade. Most tri-SLI rigs (GTX280s) can barely handle Crysis maxed out. Get a mid-range gaming rig with an 8800, or higher (but not a lower 9 series, those are just crap....9800 is fine). Dont expect to be playing Crysis on high with full res though. Its one or the other: High res, or high spec.
