Everyone has that feeling regularly, and it doesn't make you a bad person in any sense. The thing you could work on is whenever you feel like you need someone to be there just to give you compliments about your appearance or personality etc. remember any special comments that you've been given that made you feel a lot happier than usual. And try to think of the good things about you and remind yourself that you are a great person. Beware of asking for too much attention though because it can cause people to think you only want compliments for the sake of them. But most people love compliments about themselves because it makes them feel loved by someone which is a great feeling.
