ok, so im in algebra 1 and i need help with this problem....im supposed to find teh height of the triangle with a base of 2x and the area is 5

the formula for finding the area is
a=1/2bh  which converts to
5=1/2(2x)(h) which converts to
10=1/2h h therefore is 5 rite?  or maybe 5x rite?  plz help because no one in my family can figure it out!

I suck at math.

you can't solve a problem that has 2 variables in it.

you need a different method of solving?

-- Posted by Trendz at 2:59 pm on Oct. 23, 2008

Area = (B * H) / 2

5 * 2 = (2 * X)

Figure the rest out.

-- Posted by lucid dreams19 at 2:59 pm on Oct. 23, 2008

nope
a=1/2bh
5=1/2(2x)(h0
5=1x(h)
h=5x
your answer is right but how you did thw ork doesnt make sense

umm look at the book if it dosent give you x then u cant solve it so it would be laking information

-- Posted by ilovebobthesheep at 3:01 pm on Oct. 23, 2008

5=1/2*2x*h
5=xh
h=5/x

you lost an x
and you have x and h variables
you can't solve that with just one equation.

There has to be more than one equation.

Or, you can solve for one variable and just have a variable in the solution, like this probem.
