My boyfriend said "I don't deserve you. You're too good for me." And he said I meant a lot to him and that he was glad I didn't break up with him. So does this mean that he has a low self-esteem or is this just another way of saying "It's not you, it's me"? Should I ask him directly what he means by that?

My boyfriend says that sometimes, usually when he's feeling down on himself...so I think it's more low self-esteem.

Sounds like a line I used once when I wanted to break with a girl. Absolutely....ask him to explain over and over until he has the balls to tell you exactly what he means.
