Do you think it was a tad bit easy? I mean, the first few times I applied, I had written absolute nothingness for my Free Response portion. The only time I actually try, I get accepted.

-- Posted by marshmellowman at 5:07 pm on Oct. 26, 2008

A tad? That's an understatement.

Anyone willing to spend 10 minutes can easily pass it, it's a joke.

Specific Reason:
As a certified LiveWire Intellectual you are indubitably capable of composing a more verbose post!

ok seriously this is out of hand. it took me about 3 times to get accepted and now i don't even care.

Yeah, well, the free response portion took me a little bit of time to write, just because I couldn't think of anything to say.

It's ridiculously easy, yeah. But the forum itself is so dead that I've never been too worried about it. I'd like to see a place with decent intellectual discussions, but LW just isn't it.

It is ridiculously easy. I imagine many who actually pass it find much too challenging to actually reply to the posts. It should be made harder, but it will always be possible to cheat.

I got in on my first try. It's like...the easiest test ever.

-- Posted by noraa at 1:38 pm on Oct. 29, 2008

It was so, so easy. The multiple choice part took me all of three minutes to complete. The free response was what got me the first time I took the test--I didn't fully complete it. I didn't read the guidelines. The second time I took it, I wrote for ages on the free response and was accepted within, like, half an hour.

I think the test should be harder. We have people passing it who can barely write a coherent sentence. It's ridiculous.

The Intellectual Test is a load of cack. Admission to an elite subforum like this one should involve the candidate running a 'verbal gauntlet'. Candidates should express their political, religious, and philosophical views, to which members respond with a scathing critique reinforced with belittlement and insults.

If the candidate can withstand having their arguments picked apart by derisive and vicious intellectuals, without employing evasive and dishonest debate tactics, fallacious logic, running away crying, or slicing their wrists, then they deserve to be initiated as a member of the Intellectual Forum.

I passed it on my first go. I thought the multiple choice questions were too easy, so I thought thee was going to be a catch with the free response... There wasn't. =\
Does anyone think, if the test is rehashed, that current intellectuals would need to retake the test to keep their title?

Now that's what I'm talking about.

I passed on the first try.  I didn't really even put any effort into it.

Hahaha yeah. The first time I answered the FR question with something like "Because I'm awesome," haha. The second time I bitched out and answered according to the guidelines, haha.

it was so easy, but on the first time I did the free response, all i did was put im smart.

I like it.

I got in on my first time, but I actually tried becuase I hoped that there would be some more intellectual discussion going on in here. I know at one point it used to be totally objective, in which case it was easy to get in because you could simply steal the answers from someone else. Either the mods need to be 10,000,000% more difficult, or they need to figure out a new test. I'd love a forum that is actually difficult to get into.

I think if the test were too hard, a lot of you wouldn't be here. :)  Even the smart ones.

I don't think entrance should be based on what you know, but your proven track record..

-- Posted by gronk at 9:43 pm on Nov. 6, 2008

Yeah it was pretty damn easy,
although heaps of people still seem to fail it...........

-- Posted by barnabas at 9:51 pm on Nov. 6, 2008

I dont understand how so many peeps fail the test still. I have taken in it pretty much every progression, since everytime they remade us..and it is a pie.

Well, I failed the times that I just wrote stupid stuff on the free response portion. I passed the only time I actually tried.

The free response was my favorite part! I mean, yes, of course the questions were easy (they actually want people in the forum), but the free response was a little tricky.  I wasn't really sure how to write an essay on the topics provided but it turned out to be pretty easy and just a little bit fun.  lol

-- Posted by zombie4life at 10:04 am on Nov. 9, 2008

Same thing happened to me when I tried to get in. I took it two or three times and failed because I wrote nothing, when I tried I got in. haha

-- Posted by sadnessness at 11:14 am on Nov. 18, 2008

It made me laugh how some people actually planned a proper essay.

I just spend 15-20mins on the questions and the free writing section.
