Isn't it where you believe there is a higher form of power that created life and such, but you don't want to give it a certain name and devote your life to it? All the while believing that life goes on after death?

Sorta.

Pretty much.

Basically what it amounts to is: "Who gives a shit?"
-- Posted by Vana at 7:22 pm on Oct. 28, 2008

something along those lies. i think its where you believe there IS a higher power, but you dont really believe its what other religions say it is. idk. like your not saying there ISNT, but your not saying theres NOT either.
-- Posted by Tempted at 7:22 pm on Oct. 28, 2008
I think that's the 'religion' class I fall into.

Aren't agnostics the undecided ones? "There might be a god, but there also might not be" the ones who have trouble forming an opinion? That's how my agnostic friend described it :/
-- Posted by The Wolfhound at 7:23 pm on Oct. 28, 2008
I am agnostic and I believe that there may be god or not, but I have no definite proof of it and there is no way anyone can ever prove it to me. That's basically it. I do not deny the existance of God, I'm just not saying I KNOW he exists, either

Kinda like a religious procrastinator, or you hate religion like me and believe in a higher power or intelligence.

That's exactly how I feel.

No, thats an atheist. and no, to the OP. Agnostic means that you simply do not know, and often do not care. You dont want to say "no, there is no God!", because you dont know that, but you also dont want to say "Yes, there is a God!", because you dont know that either.

Something like that, it really depends. I'm agnostic, I think that their is a higher power. I just don't think it's necessarily "god" himself. I think it's some kind of force that balances out nature and perhaps allows life on our planet. I don't necessarily believe in the "bible" at all.

which is basically pussy way of saying you're an atheist

I sometimes think the Bible was written by some sort of ancient goverment type thing just to ensure that their communities wouldn't be an absolute Hell to deal with. To install fear into them, perhaps.

Agnostic is NOT undecided. I'm decided that there's no possible way one can prove there's God, I just won't believe what someone says, whether it be "God exists" or "God doesn't exist". I do not have an opinion on the issue other than you can waste your life trying to argue whether there's God and life after death or not. Agnostic is NOT atheist, as it doesn't say God does not exist.

In other words, it is undecided. yes, you've decided that there's no way to prove it, but thats not the question. Are you decided on whether there is a God or not? No. Therefore, you are undecided.

I'm agnostic and I firmly believe that there is no higher power and I will be tossed into nonexistence when my neurons discontinue their transmitions. However, I also believe that I cannot know for sure that I am right - if I am wrong, I will proudly take suite 666 with Satan (or maybe even Hades) himself and when my judgement comes before Yeskwah, I will be sure to tell him to shove his greedy, conceited, arrogant bullshit up his hairy ass o.o

Um no. Agnostic is not knowing if there is or isn't a God. And it is the most logical belief system between believing and not believing.
-- Posted by Wilder at 12:10 pm on Oct. 30, 2008
People most often use "agnostic" to mean that one doesn't know whether or not there is a god, though properly the term refers to the stance that one cannot know for sure whether or not there is a god (thus meaning that agnostics, like all people, are either atheists or theists).
-- Posted by I never forget at 12:39 pm on Oct. 30, 2008
Well...most agnostics don't know, and they don't really care. Some agnostics don't know, and would like to know.
