It really annoys me when people say that
1)you won't lose weight if you starve yourself
2)if you don't eat, your body will start to 'eat' itself

1) Yes you will, but you will put all the weight back on  when you start eating 'normally' again
2) Most of the people I speak to *want* their body to consume itself--- that's how you lose weight!- your body 'eats' all of your fat stores

Please note- I am not condoning fasting

Sorry, one of my friends was talking about how stupid dieting was today and what she was saying really bugged me.

Actually thst's not how you lose weight. Your body doesn't eat the fat, it burns it off when you exersice.

If you starve yourself it will just make more problems.

When your body 'eats' itself you will, logically, lose weight.

When your body starts to "eat" itself, that's a sign of something called malnutrition. Dieting does not equal malnutrition.

The'yre probably only saying it because from their perspective an anorexic fanatic annoys them!!

Excercise is the only way, yeah sure, cutting the calories is bound to HELP you lose weight (though carbs are essential for the necessary work-outs you've gotta do to get trimmed), but starving yourself for days on end just ensures the next meal you eat will be digested to the atom and you'll end up all bloated, malnutritioned and ultimately uglier anyway!

I know, I just really hate it when people make points like "starving yourself won't make you skinny"... duh-- It will
but does have consequences

So true. I've never seen a fat person and thought "I bet their happy with that effort bulging over their jeans".

But then I was working in a patisserie a few years back, asked a realllllllly fat lady if she wanted cream with her chocolate gateux with a bit of a cheeky grin and she said "yeh definitely, your only fat once after all".

I guess some people just like eating that much! That said, if I got above 11 stone I don't think I'd eat for weeks.
