Some of you may have read my topic about going to the respite care centre to see some of my friends. Well i was so taken by the work there i offered to become a volunteer and help out without being paid. My friends will probably think im mad but i dont know... it makes me feel good and it gets me out the house i guess. Theres some amazing kids there!

I used to volunteer at a kids club, but I don't have the time anymore. I would like to do something like it again in the future though.

I'm supposed to do 15 hours of community service as part of our PSHE course crap this year, but I'm 15 and most places won't take you till you're 16, so that's a bit difficult. I am looking for places, but hardly anywhere will take you until you're 16.

I volunteered at the vet's, but they have too many people there atm.

I do volunteer work at various medical clinics, babysitting people's children while they're in their consultations and such.

I've volunteered for a mainstream children's afterschool club, a children and young adult's disability service (afterschool club and summer/easter playschemes), in a hospital surgery ward and in a GP's surgery.

I'm a full time volunteer until June, living on a hunger-inducingly small stipend.

In the past I have done a quite a lot of volunteering, but now I don't have the time to commit to anything. I am hoping to help out occasionally with a club for disabled young adults, but I'm not sure if that is going to run. I would like to do more, but no time.

I use to volunteer quite a bit before I was a mum, now I don't have time for it unless it's a one time thing. If I'm going to work with any regularity, it has to be paid.

It's a wonderful thing to do if you have the time. You give back to your community, support an issue you care about and it looks great on a resume. Just because it's not paid, doesn't mean it's not work. :-) Especially if it's a long term or repeat volunteer placement.
