Christians are part of a monotheistic religion which worships YHWH, a god also shared with Judaism. The difference between Christians and Jews is that Christianity is in essence a follow-up to Judaism. Christians believe that YHWH had a son through a human woman, Mary, who gave birth to a child both completely human and devine, Jesus (or in some circles, Joshua bar-Joseph or Yeshua). Jesus is referred to Christians as the "Christ," which means "anointed one," with the belief that he fulfilled a prophecy of saving Israel. Later in Jesus's life, he walked around with twelve followers, preaching in the towns he stopped in. By trade he was a carpenter and a fisherman, and used both occupations to explain his word to all his followers. Because his ideas were countercultural, he was captured by Jewish leaders in an attempt to kill him. However, since the Sanhedrin, or the council of Jewish leaders, had no say in giving him death, they turned him over to the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, who, though very displeased, had to follow along with what his people told him, and sentenced Jesus to death by one of the most brutal of sentences, the crucifixion. Three days after his death, the New Testament (Christianity's core book) dictates that he miraculously triumphed over death. This moment, the resurrection, serves as the basis for Christians believing that Jesus's conquering of death meant that sin was also conquered, and he in essence, took everyone's sins on himself. So basically, it's a Judaism-based religion that centers around zombies.

Ill chuck in my opinion. Christians are intrinsically no better people than others, but the difference is they have Jesus in their life. This means that they are cleansed from all unrighteousness, and are being made holy in Gods eyes. They are often a loving community who are accepting and not as judgemental as other people. They still sin, so they are not perfect.

If, in Christians' opinions, having Jesus in one's life constitutes righteousness, holiness, greater loving than the rest of humanity, and a nonjudgemental perspective, then I'd have to surmise that, while Christians are not better than others intrinsically, they are deluded in that they believe that they are. (they including specifically the poster of the above)

I'll agree that sometimes they may be deluded into pride. But that shouldnt happen, the dfference is that Jesus grace transforms them so they start living for God and not for themselves. They wont always be more loving, or less judgemental

Christians are ..........
A spectrum of individuals advocating, practicing, and identifying with numerous different ethical/moral systems, behavioral standards, religious doctrines, ideas, groups, theological propositions. They range from perfectly respectable, well-rounded human beings to human waste (à la Phelps), to flip-floppers only identifying as Christian for cultural/familial reasons, to the kind of presumably sincere but rather idiotic creation-museum founder types that characterize the American born-agains. I fail to identify closely with any of them.

they are opinions. if they are actual opinions they cant be wrong. the point of this forum was to see what people actually think about christians, not to turn it into a theological debate, theres plenty of topics for that. Discuss peoples opinions but dont argue with them, dont bring people down

If you say thats your opnion, I cant say "no it isnt" get my drift? This topic is asking peoples subjective opinions on their perception of christians. We can ask them to explain or clarify something, or question why they have come to that conclucsion.

Ehh, I don't put a general term to them. Some are delusional. Some are great. Some are just complete idiots who wouldn't know left from right if the sign was in front of them. And some are just robots who follow every command because "it's what God wants" and they never really think for themselves. But, like I said, some are okay, and really great people.

Christians are people. Just like everyone else. There are the good, then the total utter douchebag, like any other religious group, or just plain any other group of people.
