I've done minor things before.. but this is my first attempt at anything involving an eye. The eye is a picture of my real eye... The explosion is one off the internet... So.. Convert the eye layer to bw, and keep the explosion layer in colour. Just resize it, make the explosion more visible & like make the picture a little bit more toned. I'm use to the resolution on my screen.. I use 1280x1024... You're talking out your arse. If he lowers the opacity on the fire layer (I'm assuming that's what you're getting at), then it'll be even less obvious as to what it is. And if by "posturzied" you mean "posterised", then the two layers will most likely look mismatched and disjointed. It'll look amateurish, basically. If you want to use it in a better way, I agree with rawr- try using a photo that has more than just the closeup of an eye. Maybe all of their face or simply half the face?
