I was a shift manager at a Fazolis Restaurant for 3 years and the electives that I took were in restaurant/hospitality Management and I really ejoyed it. I am seriously considering taking a job as a restaurant manager. I would like to work at an established place such as a dominos, Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, or a Fazoli's again. My Advisor said that I should have gotten a Diploma or an associates in restaurant/hospitality Management instead of wasting my time going all the way for a Bachelors. I guess thats true, they always have Area, Regional, and Divisional managers. the funny thing is that I finished some of my credits early and am taking some masters classes while I am finishing my BS so it will only take me 8 months to finish my masters once i finish my bachelors lol. -- Posted by Fauna at 1:21 pm on Nov. 9, 2008 you're always going to be a more employable person with a degree, and at the moment, when it's getting harder to find a job at all - you'll really thank yourself for getting that degree. anyway, education is worthy in and of itself. you've educated yourself to degree level, and that is commendable, even if in, in the short term, it wasn't necessary to do so. -- Posted by Helios at 1:27 pm on Nov. 9, 2008 aww thank you. at least i payed for the degree myself and dont owe any student loans -- Posted by AtomicCactus at 3:17 pm on Nov. 9, 2008 You'll be a more marketable candidate with a degree.  She's probably jealous.  And as Fauna said, it's a definite asset for securing higher positions.  Even if you decide restaurants are not for you later on down the road, having a Bachelor's will open many doors as its a requirement for many jobs, even if it's not related to your field. That being said, your degree should find plenty of use in a variety of fields.  I've also 5-6 months left for my Bachelor's, but it won't have the variety of job opportunities like your degree (despite what they say lol).
