So like i'm trying to connect my Vista computer with my XP Laptop so i can transfer a few files, i've tried an Ethernet cable but couldn't find out how to get vista to connect thingie and i've also tried doing it wireless but still don't get how to make it work so does anyone know how to do it like easily, either through wireless or the Ethernet cable thingie and yes i've been searching google and doing stuff on their for ages and still confused about it thanks/.

go through your router, that's what i do..i have a vista laptop, an XP computer and a W 98 comp that all talk to each other..its cool

i seriously can't wait for the new windows OS to come out in a few years. unless i switch to mac before then. because vista is SERIOUSLY pissing me off.

http://www.tips4pc.com/Articles/Networking tips/how_to_enable_printer_and_file_s.htm Plug in wired machines to the router and have wireless machines connected to the router. Enable it on computer you are trying to get stuff off of.

do you know of a way to do it wirelessly cos i can't connect my computer to the router as it's downstairs ok i dunno how this worked but on run i just typed in \\thecomputersname and i could then access the files.. even though it doesn't show upp on my networks or anything and i can only access the vista files from xp commy, i can't access the files on xp commy while im on vista

XP can be a bit picky with network folders. Basically just mess with the settings until you get it right.
